In Mohankheda Tirth of Sardarpur tehsil of Dhar district, which is famous for its history, a great pilgrimage of Shwetambar Jain society took place, which has become famous in the country and in the world. The pilgrimage town of Param Pujya Dada Gurudev Shrimad Vijay Rajendra Surishwarji Maharaj has also become a place of pilgrimage for human service.
Every year on the occasion of Guru Saptami there is an influx of devotees. Lakhs of the faithful set out on the path to their well-being by greeting the revered Gurudev.
In fact, Mohankheda Mahatirtha is the result of the divine vision of revered Dada Gurudev Shrimad Vijay Rajendra Surishwarji Masa. Shri Rajendra Surishwarji had done Chaturmas in Rajgarh in 1928 and 1934. In Samvat 1938 he did Chaturmas in Alirajpur and then made his debut again in Rajgarh in Dhar district. Meanwhile, Gurudev told Shravak Shri Lunaji Porwal that you should get up in the morning and go to Kheda and make a mark in the valley where Kumkum’s swastika is seen and build a temple there.

According to Gurudev’s orders, Lunaji began construction work on the temple. In Samvat 1939, Gurudev’s Chaturmas were held in nearby Kukshi, and in 1940 they remained in Rajgarh Nagar. Meanwhile, on Shukla Saptami’s auspicious day, Shri Gurudev worshiped the original hero Rishabhdev, etc. With the dedication of the original Nayakji and other Bimbis in the temple, he announced that this shrine would take enormous shape in the future and that it would be called Mohankheda Tirth. Today this pilgrimage has become a great pilgrimage for his blessings.
Current shape of the temple
At present, there is a huge temple and a trishikhariya in the pilgrimage complex. The 31-inch Sudarsana statue of the original Lord Nayak Adinath is enshrined in the temple, which was consecrated by Gurudev. The other images are Shri Shankheshwar Parshvanath and Shri Chintamani Parshvanath. There are three artistic marble doors to enter the shrine. The shrine houses the idols of Shri Anantnathji, Shri Sumatinathji and Ashtadhatu.
There is a shrine at the top of the temple, whose original hero is Lord Tirthankara Shantinatha. Apart from this, the Shri Adinath temple was also built on site. The 16ft 1 inch high Shvetambara statue of Lord Adinath sits in a massive Kayotsarga posture in black color. The idol is located on the seat of Ashtamangala. In Mohankheda Tirth, the Parshvanath temple with three peaks on the right side of the main temple was also dedicated.
In this, two Padmasan idols of Lord Parshvanath of Shyamvarna are installed. In Jain traditions, there is a tradition of putting on the paduka feet of Tirthankara Bhagwantas, Acharyas and Muni Bhagwantas. Founded by Shrimad Vijay Rajendra Surishwarji Masa is the Pagliaji of Lord Adinath, where a temple is built.
Tomb with golden nails
The holy statue of Gurudev was installed in Mohankheda Tirth. Their fire rites were performed in Mohankheda itself. Today, gold has been inlaid around this statue, as well as the gold inlay work on the walls of this tomb still continues.

Social interest – Mohankheda Tirth
It is thanks to Gurudev’s blessings that this pilgrimage has now turned into a great pilgrimage in the service of humanity. Shri Adinath Rajendra Jain Gurukul travels here where arrangements are made for accommodation, food and education for students.
Apart from this, the Shree Rajendra Vidya High School also operates, in which hundreds of students study. All the religions of the world teach that there is no religion greater than service to mankind. With this motto, the institution of Shri Guru Rajendra Manvaseva Mandir Hospital also operates here. Facilities are provided in this hospital at nominal cost.
This pilgrimage is also famous for its visual service. In 1999, 5,427 people were operated on during the pilgrimage. Apart from this, camps are organized for the promotion of vegetarianism and the elimination of drug addiction in the tribal areas.
Not only that, there is a 9,000 square foot Shri Rajendra Suri Kundan Gaushala for cows, in which 4 Gosadans were made with all the facilities. There is also a huge 10,000 square foot grass field for collecting grass etc. for animal use. In this sense, this pilgrimage is also associated with many social concerns. In this social concern, the inspiration and hard work of Muniraj Jyotish Samrat Shri Rishabchandra Vijayji Masa is very important.
InSri Guru Rajendra Vidya Shodh Sansthan settled in Mohankheda Tirth. Its main objective is to provide library services to people interested in Jain literature and to publish research literature. Apart from that, 7 parts of Shri Rajendra Abhidhan Kosh composed by Gurudev are abbreviated and translated into Hindi.
How to reach Mohankheda Tirth
To get to Mohankheda, Rajgarh, a market town in Sardarpur tehsil in Dhar district, located only 5 km from the pilgrimage, is easily accessible. There are direct bus services from Indore to Rajgarh. Hourly bus service is also available from Dhar District Headquarters, while there is a train station in Meghnagar, about 60 km from Mohankheda Tirth.
Well-equipped Dharamshalas are available for the stay of travelers. The main Dharamshala of this shrine is Vidyavihar, in which 205 chambers and 4 halls have been built. Bhojan Shala was also built by the Trust Board.
